Description of the plant:
Fireglow is a red-leaved Japanese maple variety from Italy. It is similar to Bloodgood with less vigorous growth and brighter red colour, and Atropurupureum with more upright habit and richer leaf colour. Leaves are palmate, 5-lobed, deciduous, glowing crimson red when they emerge and shiny burgundy red in summer, turning bright red again in autumn. It commonly forms a nice shape, evenly branched, almost as wide as tall with age.Japanese maples need constantly moist soil that has to be well-drained, acidic to neutral, and medium fertile. Keep it mulched all year round. It will love a location with high air humidity, e.g. at a river bank or near a pond but it is not a must. Grow it in full sun for best colour. Fully hardy to min. -27°C (USDA zone 5b).
