Japanese maples are the „créme de la créme“ of every garden. A majestic looking tree needs no pruning at all and we recommend letting it develop its own shape.
Description of the plant:
Dissectum Viridis has light green, very soft, deciduous, deeply cut leaves with 7 or 9 lobes. To maintain its colour we recommend growing it in location with filtered sunlight or semi-shade as the leaves may show signs of sunburn in hot sun, or even change its colour in full sun and dry soil. The growth form is strongly cascading, and the long, drooping branchlets make a dome-shaped plant in maturity. Its usual height is between one and two meters and is based on the height of support to which its central leader was attached. Once you discontinue this binding it will only produce arching branches. It does not need much maintenance. Pruning is not needed but is possible during winter.
Japanese maples prefer acidic to neutral soil, moist but well drained, semi-fertile. Fully hardy to -27°C (USDA zone 5b), older plants to -29°C (USDA zone 5).
