Description of the plant:
Wilson's Pink Dwarf is a handsome guy in the family of dwarf Japanese maples. It only grows some 2m tall in a dense, vase shaped, bushy habit. Its most prominent feature is the colour of newly emerging leaves - they are a combination of salmon pink and fiery orange red. The shrub does resemble a fire for a few spring days before lower foliage begins turning green. In autumn they change again to salmon and pinky-orange with some carmine red hues. For best colouring grow it in full sun only. Japanese maples need constantly moist soil that has to be well-drained, acidic to neutral, and medium fertile. Keep it mulched all year round. It will love a location with high air humidity, e.g. at a river bank or near a pond but it is not a must. Wilson's Pink Dwarf is very hardy once its wood has hardened and withstands temperatures down to -29°C (USDA zone 5).
