Yarrow is a lovely perennial ideal for dry and neglected locations. There are so many red-coloured varieties available today that it is truly surprising that we are still surprised seeing a new and different one. Feuerland comes from Germany as a cross between a.millefolium and a.'Taygetea', and in English speaking countries is marketed as 'Fireland'.Description of the plant:
Feuerland Yarrow makes beautiful flowers of fiery orange and red colour in almost flat corymbs atop about 60 cm tall stems. This is a medium late variety producing flowers for a long time from mid July until October. Fern-like leaves are finely cut and rich grass green, basal leaves are larger than stem leaves. Removing stems with spent flowers will encourage growth of new stems with new flowers until the weather is warm and sunny. Yarrow is a maintenance-free perennial suitable for standard flower beds as well as dry slopes and rockeries. It tolerates a wide range of soils except for boggy and wet. Full sun is needed for profuse flowering. Fully hardy to -40°C (USDA zone 3).
