Description of the plant:
If you like big trees for their leaves but own only a small plot have a look at this >dwarf red buckeye.Koehnei is a fantastic variety with attractive both foliage and flowers, and moreover, slow growth.
The flowers are upright, conical panicles composed of orange-pink, tubular flowers and come out at the end of May. Typically chestnut leaves are deciduous, 5-7 palmate, with oblong to lance-shaped leaflets, bronze when they emerge, turning mid green in summer and yellow in autumn. Older plants make small, brown nuts hidden in smooth-skinned pods.
Very slow growth is perfect for even the smallest of gardens. It is usually sold as mini- or half-standard which forms a dense, rounded crown. Buckeye is not picky about soil type. Grow it in moist but well-drained soil in full sun. Hardy to -34°C (USDA zone 4).
