Columbines are common perennials of Czech countryside. They grow naturally in moist sites as well as in crevices of pavements, on stone walls etc. They do well in poor soil and produce colourful flowers where hardly anyone would expect anything to bloom at all. At the turn of the century these plants enjoy their renaissance as more and more varieties combining colours and shapes are becoming available in the market.Description of the plant:
Cameo represents a new series of compact, dwarf growing columbines with bi-coloured flowers. Blue and White is a Cameo variety with blue and white flowers on about 15 cm tall stems in May and June. 3-lobed leaves are mid green and make a neat mound. Cut back whole plant after flowering to encourage growth of new foliage that will look great until the end of the season.Columbine will grow in almost any soil that will not be left too dry. It likes filtered sunlight but will live in full sun if shaded from the hottest part of the day in summer. Hardy to about -39°C (USDA zone 3).
