Description of the plant:
Japanese fan columbine is an Asian species producing strong, erect plants with large flowers. They open from mid to late spring and have different colours of their centres and petals. The flower buds are nodding, just like freshly opened flowers. Only after a few days, when they have matured, they rise up their heads towards the sun.

SPRING MAGIC is a series with very attractive flowers of pastel colours. Rose Ivory is a lovely variety offering rosy pink petals and ivory cream centres. The leaves are divided into 3 leaflets, and each one is 3-lobed, soft green with a bluish hint, and form a neat mound. Cut back the whole plant a little above the ground level after flowering to encourage growth of new foliage that will look great until the end of the season.

Columbines will grow in almost any soil that will not be left too dry. However, this one loves fertile, constantly moist but well drained site in partial shade or under tall trees whose canopies offer filtered sunlight. Extra feeding is not necessary but a small dose of a well-balanced fertilizer in early spring with help the plant become bushier and bear more flowers over a longer period. Hardy to about -39°C (USDA zone 3).
