Description of the plant:
Sandwort is a superb, low-growing, and profusely flowering perennial with hundreds of small, single, white flowers from mid spring until early summer. The leaves are very narrow, elliptic, rich green and make a dense cushion which remains evergreen all year round. Newly planted sandwort might be a little slow to establish but from the following year it offers a profusion of flowers without a doubt. It repeats flowering until autumn.Sandwort requires almost nothing. Grow it in reasonably drained soil. It loves evenly moist ground and full sun but will be ok in drier places, too. Trim it lightly after flowering to keep it dense and without visible old woody framework. Use it where you need a low growing flowering perennial whose added value is the fact that it is evergreen. Hardy to min. -34°C (USDA zone 4), possibly more.
