Description of the plant:
We are proud to present a few novelty barberries bred in the Czech Republic by Michal Andrusiv in Litomyšl. Golden Rocket® was patented in 2008 under PP18,626. Golden Rocket® barberry has bright golden-yellow to yellow-green, ovate to rounded, deciduous leaves that turn fantastic fiery orange red and salmon pink in autumn. Like other barberries its branches have short spikes. The bright coloured foliage is scorch resistant once the plant has established well and has enough moisture.
It grows strictly upright, slowly, forming a dense and compact shrub about 1m tall and 30-40 cm wide in 6-8 years. It is ideal for informal hedges or in a mixed border with small or mid-sized shrubs of dark coloured foliage where it will stand like a limelight enhancing it with its golden foliage. It likes almost any soil type apart from boggy and does best in partial shade or full sun if mulched. Fully hardy to min. -29°C (USDA zone 5).
