Description of the plant:
European white birch is an attractive tree which, however, in its basic form is not suitable for small-sized gardens. However, this selection is excellent for every garden or even a tiny spot at your doorway. It is a weeping white birch, called Youngii. It is commonly 2-3m tall, and in our climate grows up to some 5m when fully mature. It benefits from pruning at young age – when the upper twigs are cut back to say quarter its size in the spring, the twigs will gain extra strength and will sooner grow upwards rather than producing all new twigs hanging downwards from roughly the same spot and thus forming a dense umbrella only.
It likes moist soil but adapts to all soil types, when established it can even accept long, dry summers. Fully hardy to min. -45°C (USDA zone 2).

- STANDARD (as described in the plant form) means a tree with a trunk of 190-210 cm and a crown at the top, unless specified differently. The commercial size for trees is their girth measured in the height of 1m from ground.
- HOBBY - These plants are of the same quality as our standard-quality plants but younger and therefore cheaper.
- SHRUB - a woody plant with branches growing bushy from the ground level.
- HALF-STANDARD or MINI-STANDARD - a small tree with shorter trunk, its size is usually specified.
