Calocedrus decurrens (libocedrus) 'AUREOVARIEGATA' incense cedar

The scale-like leaves are similar to thujas and cypresses. They are arranged in two pairs. The basic colour is dark green and this variety has some leaves entirely rich yellow. After transplanting and the first winter mainly the yellow leaves may turn brown and even fall off which is just a temporary discomfort before it establishes. If this, however, happens to an established plant check for soil conditions (too dry or too wet.)
Incense cedar is widely soil adaptable but will look poor planted in too heavy soil. It grows relatively fast and can be pruned or trimmed in early spring. It is maintenance and disease free, with no pest problems. Do not let it dry out in winter. Water it well in dry, frost-free spells. Fully hardy to -24°C, can withstand temporary drop to -29°C.
