Description of the plant:
Himalayan cedar is the most graceful of all cedars. The species is rich to light green but there are numerous varieties selected for different foliage colour and size in maturity. Blue Triumph (Trionfo Azzurro) is one of the successful selections with striking silvery blue needles. They are evergreen, quite long, borne in whorls of 20-25. Lateral branches grow from the central leader in the angle of 50-70° (like a wide letter “V”), with ends drooping which makes a picturesque shape with a relaxed and fluffy feeling.

Himalayan cedars are rather fast growing trees and form a neat, quite regular, pyramidal shape when placed in full sun. Estimated size in maturity is anything between 13 and 15m tall and half as wide in Central-European conditions.

It will grow in almost any reasonably permeable soil. Young and freshly transplanted trees will be grateful for constant moisture and some slow-release fertilizer before they fully establish. Pruning is possible in early spring. Blue varieties of cedars are usually hardier compared to green and golden ones. This one is rated hardy to USDA zone 6 (about -24°C) and if it suffers from black frost in late winter and some of its needles turn brown and fall off it will readily regenerates in early spring.
