Tickseed is a popular perennial that will suit both the modern city gardens as well as natural landscapes in the country. Modern varieties are bred for more beautiful flower colours, improved garden performance or hardiness, and obviously extended flowering period.
SOLANNA™ series of perennial tickseed was bred by Gavriel Danziger from the Danziger nursery in Israel founded in 1953. Until today the series contains 7 beautiful varieties which are more or less different from those already available on market, and we especially choose the most distinctive ones.

Description of the plant:
SOLANNA™ GOLDEN SPHERE is one of the unique tickseed varieties from the SOLANNA™ series. It makes dahlia-like, fully double, golden yellow flowers about 5-6 cm across. They are so-called self-cleaning, i.e., when the flowers fade individual petals fall off quickly, not disfiguring the rest of the blooming plant. It is an important feature since the plant blooms for an extremely long period: from late June until the last sunny and warm days of autumn.The flowering stems are not tall, only about 25-35 cm in height, and the plants form dense and profusely flowering tufts. The leaves are medium green, broadly lanceolate at the ground, much shorter and narrowly lanceolate below the flowers, deciduous. Patent No. PP25241 was granted in 2015.
Tickseed will grow in nearly any free-draining soil, and as it withstands drought it is popular for rockeries. Making it a glowing feature in your perennial garden bed is the reasonable and expected way of using it. But placing it among small shrubs with different foliage and flowers will mean an honour for this easy and affordable beauty. Deadheading will make the plant nicer and bring forward formation of new flower buds but is not necessary. Fully hardy to about -29 °C (USDA zone 5).
