Cotinus coggygria 'Ancot' GOLDEN SPIRIT® smoke tree

It is unique for its bright lime-yellow foliage on relatively long stalks compared to the leaf size. Leaves are oval to rounded and turn to burgundy, orange and red in the autumn.
Tiny pink flowers are formed in filamentous panicles producing a smoke-like appearance. For the best display we suggest planting it next to a red-leaved shrub such as another very popular variety Royal Purple.
It grows moderately to fast to about 2.5m and can easily be kept compact by pruning. Cut back last year’s branches by maximum one third in early spring or mid summer. Harder pruning will result in radical growth but no flowering and too long branches that will not be fully leaved the season after.
It is tolerant of wide range of soils but will thrive in well-drained, moderately fertile, moist soil in full sun or partial shade. If the soil is kept moist this variety can be planted in full sun without a danger of sunburn. Fully hardy to -34°C (USDA zone 4).
