Description of the plant:
ib>Fargesia is a genus of bamboo which is not only the most suitable type for our climate (zone 6), it is also one of the most attractive bamboos offering beautiful plants.Simba is a dense growing variety with medium strong, yellow-ish green canes. The plant is called umbrella bamboo as it forms a pendent crown from thinner tops of the canes which elegantly droop. Evergreen leaves are narrow, dark green, about 10 cm long.
This bamboo is clump-growing so it does not need root barrier as it is not invasive. Grow it in fertile, moisture retentive soil. Simba will take full sun and wind. It is commonly hardy to -21°C and withstands short spells down to -25°C (USDA zone 6). After severe winter some portion of leaves may fall down and the plant will produce new ones in the spring.
