Gaura
Gaura is a perennial with extra long blooming season and which requires very little or no care at all. It emerges in late spring with deep burgundy red leaves that turn green in summer. It can multiply previous year's size in no time and become almost three times as large.Description of the plant:
CHERRY BRANDY is a gaura variety bred Japanese breeder Michio Kataoka and patented as PP14581 in 2004. It is a seedling of g.lindheimeri cerisier and its flowers are very similar to Siskiyou Pink but the plants are more compact and shorter. The flowers are white, flushed pink in the centre. Plants usually do not exceed 40 cm tall and 60 cm wide.We noticed that if the plant is frequently fed it is big and beautiful but tends to mature more quickly and may become very short-lived and die prematurely. If your soil is reasonably fertile we recommend only one feeding - just before the buds begin to form if you want to prolong its life.
In the wild gaura lives in naturally moist lands where it thrives. In the garden grow it in equally moist but well drained soil in full sun. Once established it tolerates summer drought. Hardy to about -25°C (USDA zone 6) and mulching is recommended for areas with long lasting frost without snow.
