Description of the plant:
Amber Waves coral bells is a semi-evergreen perennial with ruffled, honey-yellow to amber-orange leaves. The waves of slightly different shades between newly emerging leaves and those that have matured is what makes this plant unique. It will look great when grown in a border mulched with bark or surrounded by white pebbles in a pot. In late spring and early summer it makes beautiful coral pink stems with small, pinkish-white flowers.Amber Waves was bred by Dan M.Heims from Terra Nova Nurseries, USA, in 2000 and patented 2 years later under PP13,348. It is also one of the parents for a new variety called Lime Rickey which benefits from its parent’s ruffled foliage.
Coral bells can take almost any soil, as well as full sun and humidity. For best results grow it in humus-rich, constantly moist soil in full sun or part shade. Fully hardy to abt. -34°C (USDA zone 4) and can be grown in outdoor pots.
