MAGICAL™ is a panicle hydrangea series from the Netherlands. Examining one by one the name is absolutely right – the plants are truly magical. They were bred by Kees Jan Kraan from early new millennium, and we would like to present those which distinctly differ from other hydrangeas we already sell.Description of the plant:
Magical™ Candle is a whiter and more compact panicle hydrangea from the Magical™ series. It makes 15-17 cm tall and 14-15 cm wide, cone-like inflorescence composed of mostly sterile (showy) flowers that emerge pale lime green and soon turn creamy white. They mature to pale red to reddish grey. Flowering begins in mis July and continues by late summer. Deciduous leaves are ovate to oval, pointed, deep green and deeply veined. Magical™ Candle makes a compact and dense shrub without floppy branches. Patent No. PP22111 was granted in 2011.It will grow in almost any soil type, preferably humus-rich, moist soil that is not too heavy or shallow. Once established it does not need extra watering like big-leaf hydrangeas. Full sun is best but it will grow in shade, too. Feeding is much recommended to enhance flower size. We recommend regular pruning every spring before the buds begin to swell. By cutting at least two thirds of previous year’s growth you will get a strong shrub with large flowers and a regular shape. It is hardy to at least -40°C (USDA zone 3).
