Description of the plant:
Fire Glow is a new dwarf variety of red hot poker, selected by Janet N. Egger in Terra Nova Nurseries, USA, in 2011. It produces spike-like racemes composed of small, rich red and orange tubular flowers on strong, green stems. The flowers appear from late July until early October if the weather is nice and warm. Narrow, linear leaves are dark green and look like daylily leaves but are more erect. In mild winters they could remain evergreen until spring. Otherwise they fade out in late November and are followed by new foliage in mid to late spring.
Grow red hot poker it in full sun, in humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. This variety is hardy to about -24°C if mulched, protecting the clump with a layer of fir branches is recommended for winter in zone 6. Protected variety - US patent No. PP21,894.
