Description of the plant:
If you like honeysuckles and want to enjoy a variety with the longest possible blooming period try this one. It belongs to sempervirens group which are honeysuckles that keep some portion of foliage in mild winters. Its name is Blanche Sandman and bears trumpet-shaped flowers, deep scarlet red outside and bright orange inside. They start blooming in early summer and continue until the autumn.

Oval to obovate leaves are mid green, opposite and often coalescent which looks as if the stem grew through a plate.

It grows fast and vigorous and can be pruned after flowering. Its is a vine that needs support – trellis, fence, wall or hedge. If pruned every year to a solid frame it can be grown as a shrub. It is not picky about soil type but likes fertile and moist but well-drained, it hates boggy areas. It is less prone to aphids in half-shade. Fully hardy to about -34°C (USDA zone 4).
