Description of the plant:
Loosestrife is our native perennial from moist meadows and ditches. Even though it is a water-loving plant it can grow in locations which may temporarily dry out completely in summer. It produces masses of small purple pink flowers on thin stems which keep on moving in the wind or just a small breeze. It is ideal for English-style perennial borders and cottage gardens.

Lady Sackville is a purple loosestrife variety with rich pink to light purple red, star-shaped flowers. They open from late June until September on well-branched, thin, hairless stems and open from the bottom upwards. As they remain fresh for a long time when the top buds open the bottom ones are usually still open thus offering a stunning look of a glowing pink-purple clump. Leaves are narrowly willow-like, lance-shaped, dark green, deciduous. Beware of drying out when the plant is prone to powdery mildew.

Loosestrife will grow in virtually any soil, preferably in moist of water-logged conditions in full sun. It may self seed so unless you with the plant to spread remove flowered stems as soon as flowers have faded out. Hardy to about -40°C (USDA zone 4).
