Description of the plant:
Topaz is our excellent apple variety bred in the Czech Republic. It represents everything you want from a low-maintenance apple tree: great fruit, disease resistance, and hardiness.Topaz produces high yields of large, rounded, red-striped fruit late in the season. They can be picked from October. Eaten fresh they have a sharp but sweet flavor and contain enormous amount of juice. After a few weeks of storing they become milder and very sweet, keeping their crispy texture. They store well until late March or April under good conditions.
Being self-sterile it needs another pollinator for heavy crop, such as Elstar, Fuji, Gala, Golden Delicious, Golden Reinette, James Grieve, Jonathan, Melrose, Otava, Pinova, Rajka, Rubinette, Rubinola, Spartan, Starking. It grows moderately into a mid-sized apple tree. Pruning is recommended in late winter – reduce long shoots to keep the crown compact. Hardy to min. -27°C (USDA zone 5).
