Virginia creepers are well-known deciduous woody climbers. They are usually fast growing and vigorous. They form adhesive roots which cling to almost any surface. In neglected locations they tend to take over the space and may be difficult to kill. There are several types which differ in leaf composition and autumn colour. They come from North America and are cultivated around major part of northern hemisphere.Description of the plant:
Silver Shower is a showy variety of Virginia creeper with variegated leaves. They are dark green with abundant white marbling as if sprayed with white colour all over. These white spots turn pink in autumn. Such colour combination can be very attractive if used against dark background, e.g. dark brown pergolas or deep green conifer hedges. Virginia creepers love fertile, evenly moist soils of any pH but will reliably grow almost anywhere – in sun or shade, yet sunny locations will guarantee better autumn colours. Very hardy to about -40°C (USDA zone 3).
