Dwarf mountain pines are slow growing conifers that are commonly much smaller in size than pine trees. They are found in mountains and hills and are used to various means of adverse conditions which makes them ideal for further breeding. Every year new varieties of dwarf mountain pines are introduced to the market, each one with something better and more attractive than its predecessor.Description of the plant:
Winter Gold is an excellent variety of dwarf mountain pine that has all positives of the species and on top of that brings golden yellow needle colour in winter and early spring. The colder it gets the more yellow it turns. It grows very slowly into a mounding shrub about 1.5m tall and 2m wide in maturity. It is compact and dense without pruning but if you want to shape it ir keep it smaller do so by shortening or removing new shoots in mid spring, or by pruning from late winter (never cut too deep into branches without needles)As every pine, it needs full sun and well-drained, neutral to slightly acid soil. It does not mind about soil fertility, south or north, windy point or closed yard. Fully hardy to min. -40°C (USDA zone 3) and suitable for outdoor pots.
