Description of the plant:
I wonder who gave name to this dwarf white pine Blue Shag … I know that “shag” has several meanings, but still. Anyway, this pine is an excellent, fluffy looking variety of Weymouth pine with long, soft needles. Their main colour is bright green but thanks to the rather wide blue-grey strip in the middle it has this beautiful silvery-blue appearance.

Naturally Blue Shag forms a rounded cushion. It grows slowly and dense and looks best unpruned. Given full sunlight it keeps its needles even at bottom branches. In my view it looks at its best unpruned nor trimmed. It needs slightly acidic, moist soil, but not wet feet. It is suitable for growing in outdoor containers. Hardy to about -40°C (USDA zone 3).
