Description of the plant:
Soft shield fern is what you probably imagine when the word “fern” comes up in conversation. It has the typical fern appearance with strong, semi-erect fronds. They are double-pinnate, bearing small, toothed leaflets along the midribs. They remain nice and evergreen down to about -15°C and only then start fading away and the plant makes new ones in spring.Proliferum is a variety with vigorous growth, and profusion of distinctly cut leaflets that fill up the fronds completely for a lush, rich effect. It needs light shade or shade, preferably acid, moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil. If you live in zones 5 and 6 we suggest removing all foliage after winter to encourage new growths. Hardy to about -27°C (USDA zone 5b).
