Cinquefoil is a popular plant in gardens of various sizes and is often found in city parks and arboretums. They have several flower colours and thanks to zero maintenance they can be planted almost anywhere. Following a great success with pink flowering variety Bellissima® its breeder Holger Hachmann comes with another beautiful piece with orange flowers.
Description of the plant:
Orange Tip Top is a cinquefoil variety from German breeders of rhododendrons Baumschule Hachmann. It has gorgeous, deep orange flowers from mid May until September. Palmately divided leaves are small, medium green, not very showy. Being too new it is difficult to estimate its ultimate site, still you can expect a mature size of about 50x80 cm. Pruning is possible in early spring. Thanks to very little care needed and high resistance to whims of weather, pests, and diseases it is ideal for low maintenance gardens. Cinquefoil grows best in well-drained, poor or moderately fertile soil in full sun. Fast and large growing varieties can be trimmed in early spring. It does not need extra fertilizing or watering once established, though a good selective fertilizer may enhance continuous production of new flower buds. It is fully hardy to abt. -40°C (USDA zone 3), and suitable for outdoor pots down to zone 5, just do not let them dry out completely.
