Prunus x yedoensis Yoshino cherry

This tree is not popular only for its flowers and autumn foliage. For 12 months a year it gives away a wonderful view of an irregular crown with arching branches which make each tree a unique specimen. It grows quite fast and soon forms a good looking crown with a thick trunk.
Cherries will grow in most soils but do best in well-drained but evenly moist, fertile, preferably acid soil. When planting it, make sure the root-ball is well soaked with water. Use humus-enriched soil which will remain moist, not wet. Pruning, if needed, should be done immediately after flowering to prevent silver leaf and bacteria canker, and to encourage new growths that will bear flowers. Fully hardy to about -29°C (USDA zone 5).
