Description of the plant:
Koniklec is a perennial that is becoming less and less common in our countryside, though it belongs there. Papageno is an attractive series of this perennial with fringed and often double flower petals. Their colours are white, lilac, pink, violet, red or purple. They are bell-shaped, nodding when young, and turning towards the sun as the mature and open up revealing centres with profusion of rich yellow stamens. Leaves are fern-like, very hairy, fresh green.Pasque flower is losing its natural habitats as it very sensitive to adverse changes of ecosystem. It has practically vanished from the Dutch countryside totally. It grows in sunny, rather dry meadows, and will like the same conditions when cultivated in the garden. Grow it in fertile, free-draining soil in full sun or very little shade. It is said to grow better in alkaline soil but tests proved it is not fussy about soil pH. All parts of the plants may cause severe discomfort if eaten. Hardy to about -34°C (USDA zone 4).
