Description of the plant:
SONNENRÖSCHEN® is an elegant, multi award-winning, miniature rose bred by Kordes Rosen in Germany already in 1996 as Little Wonder, and launched in 2003 under a new German name SONNENRÖSCHEN® which means Rock Rose or Sunrose, i.e., the semi-woody perennial with small flowers on a cushion-like plant. This rose is very similar in habit as it is mound-forming and produces small, 3-4 cm across, single, white flowers with yellow anthers. Shortly after they open, especially in late summer, they are soft vanilla yellow but soon change to pure white. They bloom repeatedly in several flushes from June till frost. Non fragrant. Lilliputs® collection. Deciduous leaves are dark green, glossy, and very healthy. Don’t be alarmed to see a thick, unusually long, and erect cane growing on mature and well-established plants. We usually cut it back to some 5 cm above ground level so it does not spoil plant’s habit. European patent No. 19380 was granted in 2007. In 2003 it was awarded ADR for perfect health and durability.Planting instructions: Prepare a hole of size 30x30 cm. Put your rose in the way that the grafting point is 3 cm deep in the soil. Water well and cover new shoots with soil or bark mulch about 15 cm high. Roses tolerate wide range of soils but thrive in deep, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil, in full sun.
Pruning: Cut the branches in half in autumn and prune hard to 3-5 live buds in spring after danger of frosts. During the flowering season prune flowered stems regularly and follow a regular feeding programme. SONNENRÖSCHEN® is hardy enough to be grown in an outdoor planter all year round.
