Description of the plant:
This floribunda shrub rose has a name that really fits – Schöne vom See which means ‘Beauty of the Lake’, so no need to feel puzzled finding out that it truly is beautiful. Its semi-double to fully double flowers are a sight for sore eyes, indeed. They are a rare combination of warm apricot orange and golden yellow as they open, and turn to pale salmon pink later, and just before they fade out they open up extremely wide into large tousled heads showing a very light pink tone without any other discoloration. Kordes – the breeder – says that it lacks any fragrance but I can smell a faint fruity sweet scent. Schöne vom See is a very healthy rose keeping its dark green, glossy foliage lush until late autumn, and flowers from end May until the first significant frost. In 2012 it was awarded a prestigious Golden Rose of Baden-Baden award among 130 beautiful, new rose introductions.

Planting instructions: Prepare a hole of size 30x30 cm. Put your rose in the way that the grafting point is 3 cm deep in the soil. Water well and cover new shoots with soil or bark mulch about 15 cm high. Roses tolerate wide range of soils but thrive in deep, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil, in full sun. During the flowering season regular feeding is recommended.

Pruning: Regular deadheading during the flowering season will enhance production of new flower buds - remove stems with spent flowers above the first leaf with 5 leaflets where the stem is strong and does not bend. Hard prune the whole shrub in early spring after frosts to 3-5 live buds above the ground.
