Little Goldstar is another compact or even dwarf novelty among rudbeckias. This one was bred by German breeder Georg G.Uebelhart in 2009 and patented under PP22397 in 2011. Thanks to its traditional-type flowers it is ideal for cottage gardens, yet it will suit any modern landscape where its neat and well-behaved habit will be what the clean and minimalistic designs call for.Description of the plant:
Little Goldstar is a perennial black-eyed Susan variety with shining golden yellow flowers. They are daisy-like, almost 7 cm across, with narrow ray florets around a convex, chocolate brown disc. They come out continuously from late July until October. Little Goldstar is very compact with short stems reaching about 40 cm and exhibiting bushy habit. Deciduous leaves are broadly elliptic, acute towards the tip, deep green in summer and dark red in autumn, with prominent veins and a few teeth at margins.Coneflower will tolerate almost any soil type but boggy. It loves full sun. Deadheading will prolong flowering time. It is suitable for mixed borders with perennials, or can be used as a flowering feature among low shrubs and conifers, and looks lovely when planted in a mass in a container on patios and balconies. Fully hardy to min. -40°C (USDA zone 3).
