Description of the plant:
This Persian lilac is a hybrid between syringa afghanica and syringa laciniata, moreover it received a variety name identical with the second parent: Laciniata. It has finely textured foliage – the leaves are deeply cut, small, light to mid green, deciduous. The branches are densely covered with foliage but yet the shrub offers a fine, airy feeling. Flowers of this lilac are soft lavender-violet to light mauve, composed in narrow, erect or slightly arching racemes, very fragrant. They come out in early summer and are best deadheaded just after flowering to promote formation of flower buds for the next season. Or, you can use this time for light pruning to keep the plant compact, mainly in young age.
Lilacs are easy to grow. They will take almost any soil but will thrive in deep, fertile, well-drained soil that is neutral or slightly alkaline. Grow this one in full sun. Fully hardy to about -34°C (USDA zone 4).
