Description of the plant:
Marietta® is a breathtaking speedwell variety with possibly the deepest indigo blue flowers we have seen so far. They are composed in 13-15 cm long, spike-like inflorescence, and come out from mid June for about 3 weeks atop 60-70 cm tall stems, and then, if deadheaded, new flowers are produced from the lower parts of the stems until September. Leaves are broadly lanceolate, serrated at margins, deep green. It was found as a natural mutation of Allmelanie by Ruud Klein in 2008, the same breeder who discovered Charlotte speedwell with variegated foliage. Patent No. PP25248 was granted in 2015.Speedwell will grow in any moist but well-drained, reasonably fertile soil, preferably in full sun but partial shade will do no harm. Hardy to about -34°C (USDA zone 4), and will grow well in a container, too, where the soil should never dry out.
