Description of the plant:
Bristol Snowflake is one the few white flowering weigelas. And I mean really white. This one is like fresh snow fallen on rich green foliage. The funnel-shaped flowers appear from late May and last for almost 4 weeks, then pop up sporadically throughout summer or wait until its end when the second, less abundant but yet attractive portion of flowers come out. This second flowering usually lasts until very late autumn. Deciduous leaves are broadly elliptic, acuminate, rich green, without a significant autumn colour change. Bristol Snowflake weigela is rather prostrate and makes arching branches, forming a low but wide shrub. Weigelas thrive in semi-fertile, slightly moist soil, preferably in full sun. They can take heavy and compacted soil, too, but will need more time to grow nice. Pruning: remove flowering branches right after flowering by about two thirds in early summer, or prune compact varieties by about a third or half in midsummer. Hardy to approx. -29°C (USDA zone 5) but not suitable for outdoor pots (risk of drying out in winter).
