Description of the plant:
MONET® weigela comes from the Netherlands where it was found in 2001 as a natural mutation of another variety called Tango. MONET® is a dwarf plant, growing into a lovely cushion with variegated foliage. The leaves are broadly elliptic, mid green in the centre with a wide creamy-beige band at margins which turns pink or light magenta in autumn before the leaves fall down. It may produce a few funnel-shaped, carmine red flowers but MONET® is predominantly grown for its eye-catching foliage and cushion-like habit. It was patented under PP16824 in 2005.Weigelas thrive in semi-fertile, slightly moist soil, preferably in full sun. They can take heavy and compacted soil, too, but will need more time to grow nice. Pruning: remove flowering branches right after flowering by about two thirds in early summer. Hardy to some -30°C (USDA zone 5) but not suitable for outdoor pots (risk of drying out in winter).

- STANDARD (as described in the plant form) means a tree with a trunk of 190-210 cm and a crown at the top, unless specified differently. The commercial size for trees is their girth measured in the height of 1m from ground.
- HOBBY - These plants are of the same quality as our standard-quality plants but younger and therefore cheaper.
- SHRUB - a woody plant with branches growing bushy from the ground level.
- HALF-STANDARD or MINI-STANDARD - a small tree with shorter trunk, its size is usually specified.
