Description of the plant:
Tickseed is a popular perennial that will suit both the modern city gardens as well as natural landscapes in the country. This variety is called Cosmic Eye as if it was meant to tell us that we are not alone in the Universe, and that someone is watching us. Well, at least this someone has beautiful eyes. Moreover, Cosmic Eye tickseed belongs to the BIG BANG™ range so we are in good company, eh? It was developed by Darrell R.Probst from the USA, and patented under PP22,601 in 2010.

Cosmic Eye is a low growing tickseed with 20-30 cm tall stems with daisy-like, large (40-50 mm across) flowers that are banana yellow with deep burgundy-maroon eyes and pale yellow centres. The stems are leafless and produce flowers from late June until early autumn. Thread-like leaves are narrow, deep green, deciduous. Cosmic Eye is a clump forming perennial that does not seed around.

It will grow in nearly any soil and as it withstands drought it is popular for rockeries. Making it a glowing feature in your perennial garden bed is the reasonable and expected way of using it. But placing it among shrubs with different foliage and flowers will mean an honour for this easy and affordable beauty. Fully hardy to at least -29°C (USDA zone 5).
