Description of the plant:
Lime Marmalade? Wow, that must be something extraordinary, sharp and sweet at the same time. Just this coral bells variety bred by Jane N.Egger from the famous Oregon based Terra Nova Nurseries in the USA. It makes dense tufts or upright growing foliage of striking colour - the ruffled leaves combine bright vivid green and yellow green shades. In early summer about 40 cm tall, slender stems rise above the foliage, topped with airy panicles of tiny white flowers. The older the plant the more stems are produced, and mature plants make so many flowers that the flowering looks very similar to baby's breath plants. Patented in 2011 as PP21,861.
Coral bells can take almost any soil, as well as full sun and humidity. For best results grow it in humus-rich, constantly moist soil in full sun or part shade. Cut of all leaves in early spring to encourage growth of new leaves. Fully hardy to abt. -34°C (USDA zone 4) and can be grown in outdoor pots.
