Shasta daisy is an easy-to-grow perennial that looks elegant in both rural and city landscapes. Leucanthemum x superbum is a hybrid between l.lacustre and l.maximum and its varieties are bred for better performance, more attractive colour or flower size, or more compact clumps.
Description of the plant:
You don't need to make that small step which means a giant leap for the mankind in order to stand face to face with the Moon. Get one of these Shasta daisies aptly called Luna and your garden will be covered with exquisite little Moons that won't stop shining even at night! And if you hear howling at midnight you know it's most probably them trying to get attention from their Big Bro up in the sky ... Luna makes extraordinary fully double flowers whose banana yellow colour does not fade at least for two weeks. Than the ray florets change to white. Flowering begins in late June and lasts 1-2 months, and some flowers may appear also in late summer. Leaves are deep green and glossy, narrowly lance-shaped, distinctively serrated. Luna was bred by Harini Korlipara from TerraNova® Nurseries in Oregon, USA, and patented as PP27037 in 2016.

Shasta daisy is widely soil adaptable provided the soil is evenly moist but well-drained. Just make sure the crown of plant is just above the soil level, never deeper. For best results we recommend growing it in humus-rich soil where the number of flowers and overall plant appearance will be better. It is commonly disease resistant but slugs become a problem when they find it since they love it - both flowers and foliage. Make sure they stay away from this beauty, otherwise they can eat the entire plant leaving bare stems in the bed. Fully hardy to about -34°C (USDA zone 4).
