Description of the plant:
Bohemia a Czech mutation of Rubín apple. It is a midseason apple tree variety producing very large, rounded fruit of excellent taste. Some say that it is the best apple of our climate. The flesh is white, less firm, juicy and sweet with reduced acidity, and very fragrant. The skin is almost completely red and soft which makes it popular among kids, however, handling needs to be more careful. Keep the fruit cold for as long as possible as it ripens very fast in room temperature, and the flesh may get mealy later on.

It can be harvested from late September until late October, and eaten after 3-4 weeks of storing or fresh off the tree in late October when sugars have developed. Flowers and fruits are formed on long branches so pay attention to pruning if you need to cut it. It is fully resistant to powdery mildew and reasonably resistant to scab. It needs more frequent watering.

Apple trees will grow in almost any well-drained soil but for best results provide them with deep, fertile soil and keep it moist at least 6 months after transplanting, and in early summer when fruit is formed. Bohemia Gold apple tree grows rather fast when young, slowing down soon after it begins setting fruit. Being self-sterile it needs another pollinator for heavy crop, such as Elstar, Fuji, Gala, Golden Delicious, Golden Reinette, Granny Smith, Melrose, Opal, Pinova, Rajka, Rubinola, Spartan, Starking, and Topaz. Pruning can be done in frost-free periods of winter but it benefits from being left to its own devices. Hardy to min. -29°C (USDA zone 5) and suitable for all regions including colder ones.
