Cinquefoil is a popular plant in gardens of various sizes and is often found in city parks and arboretums. They have several flower colours and thanks to zero maintenance they can be planted almost anywhere. BELLISSIMA® is a gorgeous new variety from European rhododendron guru Holger Hachmann from Barmstedt in Germany. By hybridizing potentilla varieties Rosiflor and Red Ace he received a fantastic new plant with rich flower colour. The first plant flowered in 2006 and EU and US patents were issued in 2017.
Description of the plant:
BELLISSIMA® cinquefoil produces 2-3 cm wide, rich pink flowers on cushion-like shrubs. They come out in profusion from late June until September. Palmately divided leaves are small, medium green, not very showy. This variety grows quite compact and is suitable for small gardens, too, or along pathways, and in rockeries.

Cinquefoil grows best in well-drained, poor or moderately fertile soil in full sun. Fast and large growing varieties can be trimmed in early spring. It does not need extra fertilizing or watering once established, though a good selective fertilizer may enhance continuous production of new flower buds. Fully hardy to abt. -40°C (USDA zone 3) and is suitable for outdoor pots down to zone 5.
