How to make somebody a rose-addict? Show them polyantha/floribunda roses, it is as simple as that. These roses are low maintenance and at the same time breathtaking, low, cluster-flowered shrubs. They bloom from end spring until the frosts. In mild winters they can have buds and occasional flowers yet in December.Description of the plant:
“Fairy Queen is another feature from the Fairy range. It bears profusion of deep purple-red flowers from June until November. The leaves are small, glossy, mid green with purple margins, changing overall burgundy red in autumn. It grows slowly, forming a low, prostrate shrub that can be used as a ground cover if required. Polyantha roses require almost no care apart from removing old flowering shoots. Pruning or clipping, if necessary, is possible in early spring. Fairy Queen is rated 80% disease resistant so we suggest using a fungicide once a month in high season to prevent the leaves from being attacked by black-spot or powdery mildew. They are soil adaptable, however, for best results plant them in deep, fertile, moist but well drained soil. Extra fertilizing is recommended when in bloom. Fully hardy to about -27°C (USDA zone 5).
