Description of the plant:
Rotfuchs is a German variety of speedwell which is commonly sold as Red Fox in English speaking countries to avoid the word rot from the name. It is a lovely perennial producing long spikes of vibrant pink flowers from June until July or early August. Leaves are narrowly lanceolate, serrated at margins, medium green.

The plant forms a low mound and is suitable for a rock garden, perennial border as well as a pot. It will look great combined with cranesbills of similar colours. Once the main flowering has finished you can prune it hard to encourage formation of a new clump with fresh foliage and a few flowering stems in late summer.

Speedwell will grow in any moist but well-drained, reasonably fertile soil, preferably in full sun but partial shade will do no harm. Regular feeding will encourage formation of new flowers throughout the season. Hardy to about -34°C (USDA zone 4), and will grow well in a container, too, where the soil should never dry out.
