Description of the plant:
BUBBLEGUM CANDLES® is another score by Dutch breeder of perennials Janus Verschoor. It is a dwarf variety of speedwell with short spikes of bubblegum pink flowers. They appear in several flushes from June until early autumn. The plant makes a dense clump and blooms almost continuously if regularly dead-headed. Leaves are broadly lanceolate, serrated at margins, deep green. Use it in a rockery or a mixed bed where it will make a beautiful edge plant combined with other pastel coloured perennials such as violet lavenders, blue sage, lilac veronica or pink gaura. Patent No. PP29780 was issued in 2018.
Speedwell will grow in any moist but well-drained, reasonably fertile soil, preferably in full sun but partial shade will do no harm. Regular feeding will encourage formation of new flowers throughout the season. Hardy to about -34°C (USDA zone 4), and will grow well in a container, too, where the soil should never dry out.
