Description of the plant:
Weigelas are valuable garden shrubs that grow freely in almost any soil and require little maintenance. They are deciduous shrubs growing 1.5 – 2.0 tall and just a bit less wide. Alexandra WINE &ROSES is a fascinating new variety with deep burgundy red, ovate, deciduous leaves and bright purple-pink flowers. They are funnel-shaped and come out from late spring until early summer. The shrubs often bloom for the second time in late summer again. Leaves are ovate to oval.
It thrives in semi-fertile, slightly moist soil, preferably in full sun. Pruning: cut back all flowering branches to about a third. As it flowers on one-year-old wood it needs to be done immediately after flowering. Fully hardy.
