Description of the plant:
Juniper-leaved thrift is a modern name for Spanish thrift which was only recently renamed from armeria caespitosa to armeria juniperifolia. It comes from pastures and rock crevices of Central Spain and loves plenty of sun. Röschen is a dwarf variety with soft pink flowers on 5-7 cm tall stems. It is a mat-forming perennial with lush, narrowly linear. Dark green leaves growing in low, dense tufts.Thrifts love open, sunny locations, free draining, and poor to moderately fertile soil. They will be happy with a little bit of rain once in a while. What they hate are water-logged soils with standing water during and after the rain. Grow them like real alpines and you will see how beautifully they will do. Hardy to about -34°C (USDA zone 4).
