Description of the plant:
Sea thrift is a rock perennial which is at home in almost all parts of northern hemisphere. Splendens is possibly one of the most popular and cultivated variety bearing clear pink flowers on about 15 cm tall leafless stems from June until July, and a few more in late summer. Linear leaves are soft, dark green, semi-evergreen in our climate. They form a nice tuft. Thrifts love open, sunny locations, free draining, and poor to moderately fertile soil. They will be happy with a little bit of rain once in a while. What they hate are water-logged soils with standing water during and after the rain, yet they dislike too dry soil. Hardy to about -34°C (USDA zone 4).
